James William Clancy of Naples, Florida, passed peacefully on June 16, 2017. Jim was born on November 24, 1944, in Syracuse, New York to the late David and Laura (Mosher) Clancy. He attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic High School in Syracuse and then Kent State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969. While at Kent State, he met a fellow student, Barbara Lonas, who became his best friend and life partner. Jim and Barbara were married on September 28, 1968 at St. Paul's Church in Navarre, Ohio. After graduation, Jim and Barbara moved to Akron, Ohio, where they resided until 1985. While living in Akron, Jim became the proud father of three children and enjoyed a successful career in real estate and property management, founding Realtronics, Inc. and Property Rentals. He was also active in community affairs, a member of the Akron Board of Realtors, St. Sebastian Catholic Church, and Fairlawn Country Club. Jim, an avid sports fan, coached and sponsored Little League baseball and youth soccer teams of his children, friends and neighbors.
After many family vacations to the Naples area, the Ohio blizzard of 1984 convinced Jim to leave the cold behind and make Naples his family's permanent home. After an early retirement, Jim, always the entrepreneur, obtained a Community Association Manager (CAM) license and managed several local communities including Longshore Lake and Pelican Marsh from which he retired in 2010 as Foundation Manager. Jim loved boating, traveling, collecting cars and spending time with his family during his retirement years.
Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years Barbara Lonas Clancy; son Brian Clancy and his wife Kristen of Mattawan, MI; daughter, Meghan Clancy Gorman and her husband Thomas of Naples, FL; four grandsons, Finn and Beckett Clancy and Thomas and Patrick Gorman. He is also survived by his sister Margaret Kutsor (John) of Owensboro, KY. Jim was preceded in death by his beloved son Michael James Clancy in 2012 and his brother Paul David Clancy in 1993. Jim is also survived by many close nieces, nephews and friends.
